With the acquisition of an existing shopping center in need of a significant update, DMA’s client identified a redevelopment opportunity: create a new, ground-up, mixed-use development on the Woburn Mall site. Situated 12 miles north of Boston near the intersection of two major highways, Woburn Village is designed to enhance a rapidly growing neighborhood. The new development spans 23 acres and includes 700,000 square feet of space, with four large in-line retail anchor tenants, six retail outparcel buildings, a luxury cinema, and a 350-unit apartment building with residential partner AvalonBay Communities.
Market Basket, TJ Maxx, HomeSense and DSW anchor Woburn Village. DMA joined the landlord team to oversee retail tenant delivery for the retail outparcel buildings and ground-floor retail within the cinema and residential buildings. Demolition for the project began in spring 2019, with phased tenant openings starting in spring 2020.
