Des Plaines Casino pursues LEED® certification, green first among Illinois casinos

Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, LLC is working toward LEED certification for the Des Plaines casino, a 147,000-square-foot casino under construction on a 20-acre site at the northwest corner of River Road and Devon Avenue. DMA, development manager on behalf of Midwest Gaming, is also providing LEED consulting services on the project. Green elements detailed in this article include a high-efficiency heating, air ventilation, and cooling system, LED signage and lighting, and site enhancements. Creative accommodations for "green" drivers and smoking guests are also planned. If successfully certified, the Des Plaines Casino would be the first LEED casino in Illinois.
