The Terminal

More than six acres of aging industrial space in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood has been reimagined as a multi-purpose campus called The Terminal. The property’s heritage includes a building that served for more than 60 years as a production facility for Pyle National Company, a supplier of lighting for America’s railroads. Before being revitalized, that factory had become a warehouse for furniture storage and a series of mechanic’s stalls. Bringing this historic property back to life involved significant investment and effort, as well as careful attention to National Historic Preservation requirements and guidelines.

DMA worked on the owner’s behalf to meet these guidelines and bring all new services and site work to the project. The complex accommodates a variety of innovative workspaces in more than 230,000 square feet, with facilities ideal for creative offices, technology firms and hands-on craftspeople. The Terminal features high ceilings, wide windows and integrated outdoor areas. The location offers convenient access to major thoroughfares, public transportation and The 606.
